Hello, we are an abolitionist movement and would like to inform you of the horrors of slavery. Slavery is the biggest problem in America in the beginnings of U.S. For one to join the cause one must know what slavery is. Slavery is a legal/ economical system where people are treated as property, and sole purpose is to serve their master, mostly work with no payment. The masters profit from 100% of the money they earn. The other countries around them already ended slavery or never had it. Examples are Britain and Canada. They would have ended slavery, but the south would not let go of slavery because it was extremely profitable. Slavery in America was totally different from slavery in all other places. Slavery everywhere else; it is easy to blend in with society when you are one serving your time, but in America slavery was strictly racial so black people as a whole were shunned in all aspects. From the 1830s to the 1860s, a movement to abolish slavery in America gained strength in the northern United States, led by free blacks such as Frederick Douglass and white supporters such as William Lloyd Garrison, founder of the radical newspaper The Liberator, and Harriet Beecher Stowe, who published the bestselling antislavery novel “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” (1852). While many abolitionists based their activism on the belief that slaveholding was a sin, others were more inclined to the non-religious “free-labor” argument, which held that slaveholding was regressive, inefficient and made little economic sense. Free blacks and other antislavery northerners had begun helping fugitive slaves escape from southern plantations to the North via a loose network of safe houses as early as the 1780s. This practice, known as the Underground Railroad, gained real momentum in the 1830s and although estimates vary widely, it may have helped anywhere from 40,000 to 100,000 slaves reach freedom. The success of the Underground Railroad helped spread abolitionist feelings in the North; it also undoubtedly increased sectional tensions, convincing pro-slavery southerners of their northern countrymen’s determination to defeat the institution that sustained them. The people that were enslaving these people were trying to defend this travesty. They said that blacks have smaller heads so naturally are not smart; but what actually is the case that they have been beaten and emasculated constantly so they play by your rules, which are to keep a black people dumb so they won’t revolt. They also said that they are made by god to be slaves, because of their body structure can do more laborious things, showing pictures of blacks and whites living happy when that was not the case at all. They never imagined if the shoe was on the other foot, and how they would, feel. That reason alone is the reason you should join us.
We are trying to stop slavery for good. Hopefully you have humane ideas and think this heinous act must be stopped immediately.
